CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The end of summer is near, and that means back-to-school shopping is on the horizon.
The West Virginia Tax Division’s annual tax exemption on clothing and other forms of school supplies will be held Aug. 2-5.
“Some families have been able to take advantage of the back-to-school sales tax holiday,” said Steve Roberts, president of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce. “We’re happy with any family that can achieve savings.
“This holiday really impacts those families that are really watching their spending. For example, if a family was going to spend a couple hundred dollars on back-to-school shopping, with this tax exemption they can save anywhere from $12 to $15 in total.
“That could be very significant for families with limited incomes. We’re always happy when people are able to take advantage of tax holidays.”
