CHARLESTON, W.Va. — U.S. Rep. Evan Jenkins, R-W.Va., officially filed to run for the U.S. Senate on Tuesday.
With the filing, Jenkins solidifies his spot in a crowded GOP primary that includes state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, former Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship and laid-off coal miner Jimmy “Bo” Copley, all of whom have filed pre-candidacy documentation.
The winner of the GOP primary is likely to run against incumbent Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va. However, Manchin is facing a primary of his own from activist Paula Jean Swearengin.
