HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Calling all makers: the Robert C. Byrd Institute (RCBI) is accepting entries in the Design Challenge at the West Virginia Makes Festival, which celebrates ingenuity and creativity.

The festival’s annual Design Challenge provides hobbyists, inventors, enthusiasts, artists and students of all ages the opportunity to demonstrate their new ideas and skills by presenting their new projects or creations to a panel of judges. Entering the challenge is free and ensures eligibility for cash prizes. Winners will be introduced during an afternoon presentation.

Presented annually by RCBI, the Oct. 6 festival coincides with National Manufacturing Day. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Marshall University’s Memorial Student Center Plaza and features special exhibits, live music and other entertainment as well as hands-on activities.

Sponsors of the 2017 festival include Bernzomatic, Edward Tucker Architects, Marshall University Research Corp., Sterling Supply Company and the West Virginia Manufacturers Association.
