BECKLEY, W.Va. (WV News) — Raleigh County Commissioner Greg Duckworth was elected Thursday to serve as interim chair of the West Virginia First Foundation’s board of directors.
Duckworth will succeed Matt Harvey, who was nominated in July by President Donald Trump to serve as U.S. attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia.
Duckworth will serve as interim chair until the foundation’s next regularly scheduled election, according to Harvey.
Although Harvey has not yet been confirmed by Congress, he formally resigned as board chair during the foundation’s quarterly meeting Thursday.
“Serving on this foundation has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Harvey said. “When I first joined I was drawn to the mission, but what has meant the most to me is working alongside people who live out that mission in passion and heart.”
