President Barry to give State of Alderson Broaddus University on Nov. 7

PHILIPPI — Dr. Tim Barry, president of Alderson Broaddus, will present his annual “State of the University” report during a public meeting to be held at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 7, at the Medallion Restaurant in Philippi.

The public is invited to the event.

Sponsored by the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce, luncheon may be ordered from the menu or self-served from the hot lunch bar beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The report will start promptly at noon.

Reservations are not required, but the Chamber requests that those who plan to attend notify the Chamber Office to assist with food service and seating arrangements. Call 457-1958 or email [email protected]. All checks are to be written to the Medallion Restaurant.

Barry has spent the last 45 years in the administration of higher education.

He is a graduate of Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa, and earned his master and doctor of education degrees from Northern Illinois University.

Before his arrival at Alderson Broaddus in 2015, Barry served as interim vice president for Aadvancement at Elmira College in Elmira, New York, under the Registry of College & University Presidents.

Barry is a former vice president of People to People International, and was executive director of the Newman Catholic Student Center at the University of Iowa.

He served as president of the St. Edmond School System in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and of Mounty Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota.

He was president of the Greater Kansas City Council on Philanthropy, Quad Cities Sales Executives, South Dakota Foundation of Independent Colleges and the Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce.

He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the National Council of Independent Colleges.
