WELCH, W.Va. — Planning is now underway for the 106th annual Veterans Day Parade in Welch.
The McDowell County parade is the longest consecutive running Veterans Day Parade in the United States.
This year’s Veterans Day parade is once again being sponsored by the American Legion Post 8 in Welch under the leadership of Commander Jason Sorah. The theme for this year’s parade is “Home of the Free because of the Brave,” according to Jim Spence, co-chairman of the Veterans Day Parade Committee.
The parade will be held on Monday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. in downtown Welch.
Spence said planning is still underway for this year’s parade, and the guest speaker will be announced soon.
“We invite all school bands, cheerleaders, athletes, school clubs, civic clubs, church groups, other veterans organizations, and any other groups that may want to participate in the parade,” Spence said. “Anyone wishing to place their antique car in the judging please call as well to get registered.”
