MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A host of officials, including the governors of West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania, have been invited to Morgantown Wednesday to celebrate the opening the ARCH2 Program Office.
The office will serve as headquarters for the Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub, a multi-state collaborative initiative seeded by more than $925 million in federal funds.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new office at the WVU Innovation Corporation is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Those invited include U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va.; U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, I-W.Va.; U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm; Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine; Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro; West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice; Lou Von Thaer, president and CEO of Battelle; West Virginia University President Dr. E. Gordon Gee; and Marshall University President Brad D. Smith.
ARCH2 is among seven regional hydrogen hub projects announced by the Biden administration in October 2023.
