CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Back on the job as Lottery director for literally just hours on Wednesday, John Myers was unable to provide much illumination on the controversies that brought him back to the agency.
That includes the abrupt departure of Lottery Director Alan Larrick on Aug. 31, the short-lived appointment and removal of Doug Buffington as acting director and the apparent suspension of general counsel Danielle Boyd, who was absent from Wednesday’s Lottery Commission meeting.
“I don’t have any information on that at all. I wasn’t here for any of it,” said Myers, who previously served as deputy director and acting director of the Lottery for nearly a decade, from 2008 to 2017.
