MEDIA ADVISORY: Press Conference set on impact on new rules on ACA

ACA navigators, Health Care advocates to address how new President Trump rules, executive orders affect ACA enrollment

Who: West Virginians for Affordable Health Care
First Choice Services

What: A press conference detailing the effects of new regulations and changes set forth by the Trump administration regarding enrollment in health insurance coverage through the Affordable Care Act’s marketplace. Speakers will focus on clearing up myths regarding the enrollment process and how recent executive orders will change how West Virginians can access health care.

Where: FamilyCare Health Center, 116 Hills Plaza, Charleston, WV

When: Tuesday, October 17, 2017, 11:00 a.m.

Why: Open enrollment for health insurance plans on the ACA-mandated insurance marketplace begins on November 1, 2017 and will end on December 15, 2017. The enrollment calendar has been shortened by 45 days from previous years, which could cause confusion for both potential and existing exchange policyholders. Advertising budgets for promoting open enrollment have been cut by 90% nationally creating fears that uninsured West Virginians will be left out of enrollment.

The event is open to the public and members of the press. If you can’t attend, you can call 888-468-1195 Pin: 742135

About First Choice Services

WV NaviCare is a grant funded program that provides free health coverage enrollment assistance to uninsured West Virginians. Our certified navigators can help consumers enroll in qualified health plans through the Health Insurance Marketplace or, if eligible, WV Medicaid. We help consumers determine eligibility for health coverage and financial assistance for health coverage. This program is operated by First Choice Services and is funded by a grant from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, a division of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

First Choice began in 1995 as a collaborative effort among West Virginia’s comprehensive behavioral health care centers. The goal was to combine resources and expertise to provide management of statewide behavioral health care contracts. In addition to behavioral health issues, First Choice Services runs WV NaviCare, a health care navigator program designed to assist consumers in signing up for health insurance in the Affordable Care Act marketplace.
