CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Tuesday evening was full of laughs and good times as Clarksburg and Bridgeport hosted National Night Out events to strengthen ties between police and the communities they serve.
“I think National Night Out is a great thing,” said Clarksburg Police Chief Mark Kiddy during the city’s event at Veterans Memorial Park. “It’s great for the kids at the end of summer before they have to go back to school. It gives the kids that don’t have anything throughout the summer a last-minute little vacation.”
Bridgeport’s National Night Out was held at The Bridge Sports Complex.
“We’re surrounded by a couple thousand people,” Bridgeport Police Chief Mark Rogers said at the event. “The food line is still pretty long … but we still have plenty of food and drinks left for everyone.
“We also have a live band … and we have tons and tons of supporters out here, whether it’s our state, local or federal law enforcement agencies. We even had some places that donated to this specifically.”
Rogers called National Night Out “one of the more popular events Bridgeport does, specifically the Bridgeport Police Department.”
