CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Kris Warner is preparing to step into a role currently held by his brother, Mac Warner, as West Virginia secretary of state.
Kris Warner, in an interview with WV News, said he hopes to continue many of the programs and initiatives started by his brother, and plans to retain the office’s current staff.
Kris Warner, who previously served on the West Virginia Economic Development Authority and West Virginia Public Energy Authority Board, was among the group of Republicans who won decisive victories in the November election. Kris Warner defeated Democrat candidate Thornton Cooper with more than 71% of the vote.
He plans to “hit the ground running, full speed,” in January, Kris Warner said.
“We’ve got plans to go visit all 55 county clerks in their county courthouses individually,” he said. “We’re going to spend the 30 days from inauguration until when the Legislature comes back into session on Feb. 12 to make sure that we’re going to be able to be the best advocate we can be with the West Virginia Legislature for those county clerks.”
