WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — A key asset in Gov. Jim Justice’s business portfolio has been slated for public auction.
The Greenbrier Hotel has been scheduled for a public auction to the highest bidder at 2 p.m. on Aug. 27 at the Greenbrier County Courthouse, according to a trustee’s sale notice published by the Lewisburg based West Virginia Daily News Wednesday.
The notice is the latest sign of mounting peril for Justice’s business empire.
The advertisement reported there has been a default under the terms and conditions of a deed of trust that took effect in 2014, executed by the Justice family-controlled Greenbrier Hotel Corp.
The trust deed listed Justice as the borrower of a $142 million promissory note dated March 2014, with New York-based JPMorgan Chase Bank listed as the beneficiary.
Cash in hand is to be paid on the day of sale, per the notice.
