CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Jim Justice still hasn’t said whether he’ll sign or veto a bill that would dismantle the West Virginia Department of Education and the Arts and the position of the cabinet secretary leading it, sending its agencies elsewhere in state government.
Butch Antolini, Justice’s communications director, didn’t respond to requests for comments Monday. Justice General Counsel Brian Abraham has said Wednesday is the deadline for decisions on bills.
Antolini didn’t respond when asked whether the Governor’s Office, which has said it’s reviewing the bill (House Bill 4006), has determined that the legislation will have any of the negative impacts people have suggested or have expressed concerns about.
