CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Five circuit court judges will temporarily sit as justices of the state Supreme Court of Appeals next month to hear arguments for a legal challenge to one of the impeachment trials of an elected justice.
Justice Margaret Workman, who was impeached by the House of Delegates, along with three other justices, asked the court to intervene and stop her trial.
“This writ is not intended to provoke a constitutional crisis; it is intended to prevent one,” the petition reads.
