CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Almost five months after losing a crowded primary election and three months before his congressional term expires, Rep. Evan Jenkins, R-W.Va., will resign from the House of Representatives on Sunday to serve as a state Supreme Court justice.
Speaking on the House floor Thursday, Jenkins announced his retirement to the chamber, telling members he will fill the seat of former justice Robin Davis come Monday.
“Country roads are calling me home,” he said. “My state is facing a crisis in our judicial system, and I believe back home is where I’m needed most to best serve the people of West Virginia.”
