MARLINTON, W.Va. — Time to head to downtown Marlinton for arts and crafts, food and snacks prepared by members of non-profit organizations – and, of course, sampling of the exquisite cuisine from this year’s RoadKill chefs.
Six teams, so far, will be cooking up a storm on the lawn at Gazebo Park on Main Street.
This year’s contestants have an opportunity to take home the big bucks as the purse for the winners has swollen up bigger than a groundhog in the side ditch.
First place winner will leave town with $1,500.
Second place can strut across the bridge with $750 in their pocket.
Third place – nothing to sneeze at – is $500.
People’s Choice award will be worth $150 – and bragging rights.
The judges will bring a vast knowledge of all things food and West Virginia, and will leave Marlinton Saturday evening with a claim to fame few people can match.
The judges, all from the Charleston area, are:
Joel Bennett, editor of Taste! WV Magazine; Jay Silverman, host and creator of YouTube channel Have Fun WV; and Candace Nelson, Director of Marketing and Communication for Capitol Market, and food columnist for the Charleston Gazette-Mail.
