CHARLESTON, W.Va. — In an effort to highlight West Virginia’s and the country’s growing opioid epidemic, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin has asked Huntington Fire Chief Jan Rader to be his guest for the State of the Union address Tuesday evening, Jan. 30, at the U.S. Capitol.
“In the face of the opioid epidemic, Chief Rader has shown incredible courage and served as a pillar of strength for the Huntington community,” Manchin said in a release Monday. “And as the first woman to lead a professional fire department in the state, she broke down barriers for young women across our state, and has served as a role model for all West Virginians.”
