WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — It’s a setting fit for a king — or a president.

The luxurious Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs is the site for what has been billed as a joint House and Senate retreat for Republican lawmakers. The three-day getaway will run from today through Friday, highlighted by President Donald J. Trump’s attendance on Thursday.

Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to arrive today at the event, where he will be welcomed by U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., and Rep. Evan Jenkins, R-W.Va. Pence and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross will deliver remarks during a visit to Worldwide Equipment Inc. in White Sulphur Springs, a joint media release issued by Capito and Jenkins indicated.

“I am thrilled to host Vice President Pence and Secretary Ross in West Virginia and excited to show them our incredible economic progress and potential,” Capito said in the release. “At Worldwide Equipment, the vice president and the secretary will have a chance to see hardworking West Virginians in action and to hear how the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is making a real, positive difference in the lives of workers and families in West Virginia.”

Emphasizing his close working relationship with the executive branch of government, Jenkins likewise expressed his appreciation for the visit by Pence and Ross.
