HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — From an educator to a salesman to a legislator, Marty Gearheart is sure his resume makes him the best candidate to represent southern West Virginia in the House of Representatives.

Before he can do that, though, he must first be chosen by Republican voters as their candidate to take on the Democratic candidate in the race for the 3rd District of West Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“I decided many years ago I felt like I would make a good congressman and a good representative of southern West Virginia,” said Gearheart, who currently serves West Virginia House of Delegates District 27, which includes parts of Mercer and Raleigh counties. “I was the general election candidate in 2008. Since that time, I’ve served in the Legislature and honed my skills.”

In the May primary, Gearheart will face six other candidates: Carol Miller, Rupert Phillips Jr., Conrad Lucas, Ayne Amjad, Phillip Payton and Rick Snuffer.
