Funeral arrangements set for Justice Tim Armstead at WV Capitol on Tuesday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Funeral arrangements for Justice Tim Armstead have been announced. Armstead, who served as speaker of the House of Delegates and later on the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, died Tuesday.

Visitation will be Sept. 2 from 3-6 p.m. at the West Virginia House of Delegates Chamber with a memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. in the House chamber. Entombment will be at Elk Hills Memorial Mausoleum in Charleston, according to his obituary.

Chief Justice Bill Wooton declared Tuesday a Day of Mourning for offices in the state judicial system.

The order calls for a cessation of business for offices and employees. Judges will have the discretion to move forward with time-sensitive matters already on the docket and access to magistrate court services will be preserved.
