Fruits of Labor closed in Beckley

By Josephine E. Moore, The Register-Herald

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Fruits of Labor has closed its Beckley location.

The organization’s president, Tammy Jordan, announced the decision via email to city officials and media Friday afternoon, shortly after the Beckley location closed for the day.

“After months of thoughtful consideration, Fruits of Labor has decided to exit the Neville Street location in Beckley,” Jordan wrote. “As an organization, we know that the Fruits of Labor program has never been about being in a specific building or a specific location. It is about being in a space where students can learn, grow, and thrive. Removing our training program from the Neville Street location will free up the building for Beckley City Council to find a tenant that will meet their lease needs.”

Jordan said the Beckley Fruits of Labor location would be “closed immediately to allow us time to pack up quickly and continue serving our current students with minimal interruption.”

She added that the remaining Fruits of Labor locations, in Alderson, Montgomery and Rainelle, will remain open and “operate under normal business hours.”

“Our Beckley team and students are invited to continue forward with us,” Jordan said. “We look forward to what the next chapter will bring and the doors that will open. We know that all things will work together for good.”
