Fire ravages Raleigh County ice plant

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Fire and ice collided Monday when a Cranberry business went up in flames, requiring three fire crews to extinguish the blaze.

The Eastern Ice House along Robert C. Byrd Drive caught fire around 9 a.m. and all employees were evacuated to safety.

Bradley-Prosperity Volunteer Fire Department’s Capt. Jeff Johnson described the blaze as “stubborn.” It started between the wall and attic space of the blue aluminum-sided building, he said.
