ELLENBORO, W.Va. – Thanks to the efforts of beloved science teacher Katrina Andrews, Ritchie County High School became a local hub for aviation and aerospace experts on Tuesday, April 29, giving students a valuable opportunity to learn and experience an entire new world of educational and professional possibilities.
Andrews, who now teaches an Aviation class, was able to secure a spot for RCHS on the AviNation American Dream Tour.
“I have the great honor of getting to come to events like this, and meet great people in communities across America. I’m so grateful to be invited here. We’re grateful to be here because of your great teacher and principal. And we’re so happy. Because it didn’t take much to make some phone calls and emails and ask the Economic Development Team and the local leaders to get the word out to get some help. And everybody stepped up We’re going to step up today.”
According to their official statement, “AviNation exists to attract, educate, and empower youth in aviation. AviNation Magazine strives to give readers insight into the future of aviation by focusing on aviation students, programs, events, and innovative approaches to the promotion and continued growth of the aviation industry.”
The American Dream Tour is the epitome of this idea, giving students the chance look beyond perceived barriers and potentially discover the future they were meant to achieve.
