Don Blankenship accuses media of ruining candidacy for U.S. Senate in West Virginia

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Former Mingo County coal executive Don Blankenship has filed a multi-billon dollar defamation lawsuit in Mingo County Circuit Court against several national news organizations and other individuals stating they united against him during his run for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in West Virginia in the 2018 Primary Election.

Blankenship is asking for $2 billion in actual damages and $10 billion in punitive damages in his lawsuit.

In his suit Blankenship names Fox News Network, Cable News Network (CNN), MSNBC, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the Associated Press, Boston Globe Media, Breitbart News Network, Clarity Media Group, The Washington Times, Tribune Publishing, Los Angeles Times Communication, Andrew Napolitano, Neil Cavuto and several others.
