WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — During the Mingo County Commission meeting on Jan. 21, tensions ran high as discussions about the management of the Mingo County Public Service District (PSD) took center stage. The agenda included deliberations on appointing two new board members and potential rate increases.
Commissioners announced plans to accept applications and conduct interviews for the two new board positions. Commissioner Thomas Taylor emphasized the importance of interviewing candidates before making selections.
“We can’t pick someone until we talk to them about the situation,” Taylor said.
Community member Keith Hess raised questions about the chain of command within the board, prompting PSD Director JB Heflin to clarify that all board members hold equal decision-making power.
