CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A new monument will be coming to the state Capitol grounds with the Capitol Building Commission’s approval Thursday of a site location for the Gold Star Families memorial monument.
The location approved Thursday is the triangle of lawn southeast of the state Veterans Memorial and northwest of the West Wing of the Capitol.
John Myers, who was administration secretary during the site selection process, told commissioners the site was selected because of its proximity to the Veterans Memorial and the nearby statue honoring women veterans.
