BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. — Boone Memorial Health (BMH) has purchased and is currently distributing Guardian Caps to every middle and high school in Boone, Lincoln, and Logan counties. This contribution ensures that student-athletes in these communities will have access to this vital protective equipment as the new football season begins. BMH is also assisting the Craddock Family with distribution logistics, media relations, and website and marketing support.
“On behalf of everyone at Boone Memorial Health, I want to express our deepest condolences to the Craddock family during this incredibly difficult time,” said Virgil Underwood, President, and CEO of Boone Memorial Health. “We are honored to support the Caps for Cohen Initiative and to play a role in protecting our young athletes. Safety and well-being are our top priorities, and we are committed to doing everything we can to ensure that our kids can enjoy sports in the safest environment possible.”
BMH ER Trauma Director, Dr. Chris Flanagan, and its ER Director, Brian Keith, RN, will accompany Ryan Craddock on visits to middle and high school teams in Boone, Lincoln, and Logan Counties. Mr. Craddock will share Cohen’s unimaginable story while Dr. Flanagan and Mr. Keith will provide education on injury prevention and concussion protocol.
In the loving memory of their son, Cohen Craddock, the Craddock family is proud to announce the launch of the Caps for Cohen Initiative. This effort seeks to raise funds to provide protective, soft-shell helmet covers called Guardian Caps, manufactured by Guardian Sports, to youth football players across West Virginia and the nation.
