WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Early and absentee voters in Mingo and Wayne counties will need to consider their ballots again after an issue with the original forms was detected.
On Tuesday, Mingo County Clerk Larry “Yogi” Croaff sent out a statement saying an “inadvertent error and omission” was discovered on the 2024 General Election ballot Monday morning.
“The issues were limited to only one election contest: the Sixth (6th) Senatorial District race. When the issue was discovered, Early Voting was immediately suspended,” the statement reads.
Croaff said the issue has been fixed, early voting resumed Monday afternoon. Still, the state Democratic Party reacted strongly to the error.
“The recent mistake by the Mingo County Clerk’s office, which failed to include Jeff Disibbio on the ballot for Senate District 6, undermines that fundamental right,” West Virginia Democratic Party Chair Mike Pushkin said in a statement Tuesday. “Mistakes like this rob voters of their chance to reflect their will at the ballot box, and it’s unacceptable.”
