Anti-abortion proponents rally for Amendment 1 at West Virginia Capitol

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — With a vote looming on a measure proponents say is meant to stop taxpayer funded abortions, anti-abortion activists and lawmakers rallied on the steps of the State Capitol Thursday evening.

A reporter counted about 90 people who showed up for rally in support of Amendment 1.

The amendment, which is up for a vote in the November general election, would add a line to the state constitution that says “Nothing in this Constitution secures or protects a right to abortion or requires the funding of abortion.”
