Alderson’s 4th of July celebration begins today

ALDERSON, W.Va. — Boasting “Celebrating the American Dream” as its theme, the 57th annual Alderson 4th of July celebration offers a full week of patriotic revelry.

Billed as West Virginia’s largest Independence Day celebration, the Alderson fete flares to life Friday evening with the popular Firemen’s Rodeo at Memorial Football Field from 7 to 11 p.m. Admission is free.

The weekend is full of fun, starting with the Run for Snacks 5K Race at 9 a.m. Saturday and continuing with an All-American Baking Contest at the Community Center, a horse show at the Glen Ray City Building and an ice cream social at the Alderson Depot. A free concert at the football field from 7 to 10 p.m. featuring Chad Nickell and The Loose Change closes out the day.
