After eight months, Justice appoints new head of West Virginia drug policy office

Robert Hansen, director of Addiction Services for the Marshall University School of Medicine and Marshall Health Systems, will serve as director of the state office of drug control policy.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Eight months after the last director of the office stepped down, Gov. Jim Justice announced Monday he has selected a new director of the state Office of Drug Control Policy.

Justice announced Monday that Robert Hansen, director of Addiction Services for the Marshall University School of Medicine and Marshall Health Systems, would take the position. Hansen previously led Prestera, a mental health and substance abuse services provider with locations in Charleston, Huntington and several other areas.

He said he was “looking forward to really working within communities, because that’s where the solutions do lie, and sharing what our experiences have been in Huntington.”
