After 12 years Joy Lynn has decided it’s time to give up her West Virginia “castle”

BECKLEY, W.Va. — For the past 12 years, Joy Lynn has dedicated her life to preserving and sharing the history of Fayette County’s Whipple Company Store.

But the Fayette County native, who splits her time between West Virginia and Florida, has decided to part ways with the building she has long considered her “castle,” as she has enlisted the help of Lewisburg’s Vision Quest Realty to assist her in a sealed bid auction.

“It isn’t a distress sale,” Lynn says. “I don’t have to sell it for financial reasons. It’s for my husband’s health. He isn’t supposed to be in cold weather so I’m going to take him back to Florida.”
