A new congressman and incumbent take WV congressional races

Moore, Miller win WV Congressional seats

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia’s Second Congressional District has a new congressman, while the First Congressional District’s Republican incumbent will remain in office.

First Congressional District

In the First Congressional District, Rep. Carol Miller, R-W.Va., beat Democrat Chris Reed and Independent Wes Holden, with the Associated Press calling the race at 8:36 p.m. Miller will begin her fourth term.

The Republican has represented West Virginia’s First Congressional District since 2019. The district, numbered as the 3rd district from 2019 to 2023, covers the southern half of the state, including Huntington, Charleston, Bluefield and Beckley.

Miller previously served six terms in the state House of Delegates.

In a statement, Miller said she was “honored” to win on election night.
