$1.3 million in funding announced for coal power technology R&D

CHARLESTON, W.Va.  — New funding for coal power technology research and development at West Virginia University Research Corporation was announced Tuesday by U.S. Sens. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.

The $1,334,953 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy will support the Research Corporation’s efforts to develop sensors that monitor corrosion in coal-fired power generation boilers, improving operations at existing power plants.
