HARPERS FERRY, W.Va.  — On Sunday, the John Brown Wax Museum, nestled in the historic town of Harpers Ferry, celebrated it’s 55th anniversary. The day was filled with food, history and door prizes for visitors of the museum.

Door prizes for the event included a signed copy of author Tony Horowitz’s book, “Midnight Rising,”–a novel based on the John Brown Raid that sparked a civil war–as well gift cards from local businesses across Harpers Ferry.

Alyssa Levasseur, manager of the museum, said that anyone with a penchant for history should visit the wax museum. The museum, which originally opened it’s doors in 1963, tells the story of Brown and his raid on Harpers Ferry.
