BECKLEY, W.Va. — Photographs.
They’ve been handed down generation after generation. Each one tells a story of years gone by. Of a time simpler time. Of a harder time.
Of our history.
The hills, rivers, valleys, coalfields and railroads of southern West Virginia are ripe with stories of those who came before us.
Stories of miners, farmers, businesses, families, communities and schools.
Life as it was.
The Register-Herald is working to assemble a collection of these pictures for our upcoming photo book, “Southern West Virginia: Legacy Through the Lens.”
And we need your help.
Within the next week, we will announce a weekly schedule for those who would like to bring in photos, allowing us to scan them, take information and return them that day.
Digital submissions can be made to [email protected]. And those would like to mail photos, can do so by sending them, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope, to The Register-Herald, Attn: Michelle James, 801 N Kanawha St. Beckley, WV 25801.
Please include a brief description of each photo submitted.
Questions can be emailed to the Gmail account.
