WVU Launches Mountain State Cyber Summit to strengthen digital defense and grow cyber workforce

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Over 600 experts, students, and industry leaders gathered Wednesday at the Morgantown Event Center for West Virginia University’s inaugural Mountain State Cyber Summit, a day-long event focused on strengthening cybersecurity, advancing research in artificial intelligence, and preparing the next generation of digital defenders.

Hosted by WVU Cyber — the university’s newly announced hub for cybersecurity research, education, and partnership — the summit brought together more than 600 attendees from federal and state agencies, private industry, and higher education.

“This is where it all comes together,” said Bill Walker, executive director of National Security and Cyberspace Programs at WVU and Director of WVU Cyber. “Today is the culmination of several years of work to create a government, academic, and industry ecosystem that tackles our hardest problems in national security and cyberspace.”
