West Virginia Press Association

ATHENS — The Concord University Nursing Program will host a White Coat Ceremony Sept. 19, 2025, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Main Theater of the Alexander Fine Arts Center.

Nineteen CU juniors are set to participate in this rite of passage on their journey to become nurses.  The white coat ceremony serves as a formal welcome to nursing students symbolizing their transition from classroom learning to clinical practice. It recognizes the hard work and commitment that students have put into their education and signifies the beginning of their service in patient care.

This ceremony is a celebration and a moment of reflection on the responsibilities that come with being a healthcare professional.  The students who participate are expected to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 2027, and upon successfully passing the national licensure exam, will become registered nurses.
