Morrisey maps economic plan to business leaders

BLUEFIELD — Driving the economy forward by utilizing energy reserves, streamlining regulations and helping the workforce will bring more businesses to West Virginia while helping the ones in the state already grow, Gov. Patrick Morrisey said Thursday before the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

Speaking via social media while addressing the West Virginia Chamber Annual Meeting and Business Summit at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, Morrisey and the state’s representatives in Congress told business leaders that West Virginia has many, and more, opportunities than the rest of the country.

U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va. spoke about the One Big Beautiful Bill that Congress passed in July and how she thought it benefited the state.

“Now I understand that they’re trying to rebrand it, a different name,” Capito said, later adding, “but I want to talk about what the real tax implications are. I want to put them up there on the screen because they don’t get talked about enough.”
