CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — John Miller, executive editor of WV News, left an indelible mark on the greater Clarksburg community and his home state of West Virginia during his more than four decades as a journalist.
Miller, who passed away suddenly on Tuesday at the age of 62, is remembered by his friends, colleagues and the subjects he reported on for his inquisitiveness, his compassion and his unrelenting dedication to his craft.
“I am very saddened to learn of the death of John Miller,” Gov. Patrick Morrisey said. “He was a journalism giant in our state and will be sorely missed. Denise and I are praying for his family and friends during this challenging time.”
Dr. Mark Manchin, president of Glenville State University and former Harrison County Schools superintendent, said the county “has lost a true friend.”
“My heart is broken,” Manchin said. “He was a great advocate for youth sports and just sports in general, and he will be missed by all. He certainly will be missed by me.”
Manchin recalled frequent debates and discussions with Miller over the years.
