BECKLEY — The upcoming 2025 Spartan Trifecta World Championship is expected to be both a competitive and an economic driver for southern West Virginia.
The Spartan races and associated events will unfold Sept. 4-7 at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in Glen Jean, with an opening ceremony on Sept. 4 in downtown Charleston which will include a Celebration of Nations, festival experiences, a live concert, food trucks and more.
While the SBR has hosted several Spartan events in the past, a Spartan media representative said 2025 will mark the first time the Trifecta World Championship will be staged in West Virginia. In fact, it is the initial time for the world championship event to be held in the United States, as it had previously only been contested in Sparta, Greece.
The Summit Bechtel Reserve first welcomed Spartan in 2017, and from 2018 to 2023 it hosted some of Spartan’s most high-profile events, including the North American Championship and the U.S. National Series, officials said.
The September races in West Virginia are expected to attract over 5,000 participants from more than 25 nations.
