BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WV News) — Without committing to a specific date, Gov. Patrick Morrisey on Wednesday provided the most concrete details yet about the special session of the West Virginia Legislature he’s been discussing for months.
Morrisey, during an event in Bridgeport, confirmed he’s eyeing September to hold the extraordinary lawmaking session. But he stopped short of saying it will be held during the Legislature’s regularly scheduled interim meetings Sept. 7-9.
“We’ve not set a date yet, but obviously we’re getting closer to some of the timelines that matter for PEIA (the West Virginia Public Employees Insurance Agency) and how the board will have to calculate things for next year,” the governor said. “I do anticipate that we will likely have a special session sometime in September.”
