Elite Duos Compete for Record-Breaking Prize at Historic Resort
Capon Springs, W.Va. – For the first time, the governing body of the World League FlingGolf (WLF) professional tour is holding a national doubles championship and has chosen Capon Springs Resort in Hampshire County as the host for this inaugural event from May 30 to June 1, 2025. This all-inclusive resort was also the site of the first WLF regional event in 2023 and the first team event in 2024.
“As a top master professional FlingGolfer and international Ambassador for the sport, I’m honored to be able to host this prestigious event on my family’s home course,” said Jonathan Bellingham. “From establishing FlingGolf in all WV state park resorts to developing middle and high school PE curriculums, I’ve positioned West Virginia to be the leader in the sport’s rapid growth. At this late May event, we will be able to both showcase the top professional athletes as well as provide access to beginners to try it for themselves.“
This weekend-long FlingGolf event starts Friday afternoon, May 30, with free, open-to-the-public clinics from the first—and second-ranked U.S. players. The evening will feature a fun skills challenge and a Q&A press conference with some of the top players from the Super Regions.
Saturday morning will feature a PRO-AM tournament on the pitch-and-putt course, where a newcomer will be paired with an experienced player. The official doubles tournament starts on Saturday afternoon with an 18-hole scramble. It will conclude Sunday morning with a second 18-hole round, this time with an alternative shot format. The final scores will be determined by combining the results from both days.
Thanks to tournament sponsor Lost Barrel Brewery, this year’s tournament will feature two-person teams competing for the largest prize purse in WLF history. The doubles event includes a men’s and co-ed division representing duos from the six new super regions. In addition to cash, local West Virginia products, goodies, and services will be given away through skill challenges and random prizes.
