Barbour Community Health Association Supports Next Generation of Healthcare Heroes with Annual Scholarship Awards

PHILIPPI, W.Va. — Barbour Community Health Association (BCHA) proudly announced the recipients of its 2025 healthcare scholarships this week, awarding a total of $2,500 to four local students preparing for careers in healthcare. These annual scholarships reflect BCHA’s ongoing mission to invest in the future of rural healthcare by supporting motivated and compassionate youth from the Barbour County area.
Launched in 2015, BCHA’s scholarship program has provided meaningful support to students committed to health and service-based education and careers. Recipients were selected for their academic achievement, dedication to healthcare, and active involvement in their schools and communities. The awards include two $1,000 scholarships and two $250 one-time award recognitions.
Stefanie Barker and Ashley Poling were each awarded $1,000 scholarships. Lily Miller and Riley McCartney received one-time awards of $250. All four students plan to pursue health-related post-secondary programs, taking important first steps on their journeys to serve others through healthcare.
The scholarships were presented by BCHA Chief Executive Officer, Eric Ruf during the Philip-Barbour High School Scholarship Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Philip-Barbour High School.
