MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The West Virginia State Police’s Martinsburg Bureau of Criminal Investigations office and the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crime Task Force dismantled two drug-trafficking organizations after indicting 25 people Tuesday morning.
These arrests were the product of an investigation started in May 2021, which extended from West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico and Mexico. First Assistant United States Attorney Randolph Bernard spoke at a press conference at the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department to share information about the arrests.
Members of the first organization were charged with conducting a large-scale fentanyl and cocaine trafficking operation out of an autobody shop in Martinsburg. They allegedly imported drugs from Puerto Rico through the U.S. Postal Service and a source connected with the Sinaloa Drug Cartel.
