West Virginia professionals provide tips on keeping your New Year’s resolution

CLARKSBURG, W.Va — In polling, 44% of Americans indicated they were likely or very likely to make a New Year’s resolution. However, studies indicate it is likely that some people have already fallen off course from their 2023 resolutions, and many more will do so before the year’s end.

For example, one study of 200 people who made New Year’s resolutions in previous years found that 77% maintained their resolutions in the first week. That number dropped to 40% after six months and 19% after two years.

Professionals say people can increase their odds of success, however.

For people who have already fallen short of their New Year’s goal, it is important not to be discouraged by a failure and quit altogether, according to Ben Walker, CEO of the Harrison County YMCA…
