West Virginia Governor Justice launches new COVID-19 vaccine incentive giveaway

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Desperate for more West Virginians to get their COVID-19 vaccines, Gov. Jim Justice announced details Friday for a new COVID-19 vaccine incentive prize giveaway.

“We’ll try to incentivize more and more to get across the finish line,” Justice said during his Friday COVID-19 briefing from the State Capitol Building. “We’ve got to get our young people vaccinated.”

Over a six-week period starting with registration on Monday, and selection of winners starting Aug. 31, Justice said the state will give out new prizes for residents who have been vaccinated with at least the first dose of the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.

The vaccine lottery, dubbed “Do It For Babydog: Round Two,” is so named for Justice’s English bulldog that makes occasional appearances on Justice’s COVID-19 briefings. Babydog and Justice traveled around the state this summer giving out $1 million cash prizes and custom pick-up trucks. Other prizes for the first round of the vaccine incentive lottery included college scholarships, custom rifles and shotguns, and passes for state parks…
