W.Va. Senator Maynard introduces bills to control distribution of contraceptives

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia State Senate Mark Maynard, R-Wayne, has issued the following statement on Senate Bill 218:

Senator Mark Maynard

“Currently in West Virginia contraceptives are being dispensed in public schools without parental notification,” Senator Maynard said, “If I have anything to say about it, parents rights will not be circumvented in this state. This is a decision that should be made including parents.”

Senator Maynard has introduced Senate bill SB 218 to combat this practice.

Also currently in West Virginia it is legal for physicians to prescribe contraceptives to minors without parental notification. Senator Maynard has also introduced legislation to require parental notification for this practice as well. That bill number is SB 220.
