WVU wins first Big 12 tournament game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — West Virginia crossed another item off its list.

In what’s merely the latest part of a season that’s already seen the Mountaineers ranked higher than they’ve been in years, place better and win more games than ever before in Big 12 play and triumph in arenas for the first time, WVU snapped a five-year losing streak in conference tournaments by beating TCU 86-66 Thursday at the Sprint Center.

The last win in a conference tournament game was the championship game of the 2010 Big East tournament. The Mountaineers (25-7) lost their final two tournament games in their former league and were 0-3 in this event.
