Shelley Moore Capito’s son to run for Legislature

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Sen. Shelley Moore Capito’s son is running for a spot in the House of Delegates, the political seat that launched Capito’s own political career.

Moore Capito, a Republican, filed pre-candidacy papers Tuesday to run for a seat in the 35th House district, representing Kanawha County.

The four-member district covers the South Hills neighborhood of Charleston, South Charleston, Dunbar, Jefferson and St. Albans

Shelley Moore Capito represented a similar Kanawha County district (prior to redistricting) before going on to the U.S. House of Representatives and now the U.S. Senate.

The 35th district currently is represented by three Republicans and one Democrat.

Two of those Republicans, delegates Chris Stansbury and J.B. McCuskey, have announced campaigns for other offices in 2016, state Senate for Stansbury and auditor for McCuskey…
